Our nutrition coaches and workout experts got your back to help you get back on track after Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving might have been a few days ago, but we know how it goes when leftovers and take-out dinners end up creating an indulgently long holiday weekend.
Family time and delicious food and drinks are what we all look forward to on Thanksgiving; however, you shouldn’t ditch your workout routine and nutrition plan during this all-important week after Turkey Day. In fact, exercise should be an even bigger priority during this time of the year—but this is often easier said than done…
Christmas parties and luncheons are just around the corner, so now is the perfect time to recommit yourself to the weight loss train. Working out will always go a long way to help you burn the excessive calories that you ate during your Thanksgiving weekend, and below we’re discussing the perfect exercises and nutrition tips to get you back on track this December!
Try Wogging
Wogging is a very popular exercise that combines walking and jogging together in a way that reduces injury risks as your body adapts to running.
Everyone needs to physically adapt to the harsh demands of long-distance running, and wogging is great for your joints, muscles and connective tissue when you’re getting back on track after Thanksgiving.
Try alternating between walking for about 3-4 minutes and running for 30 seconds. As you start wogging more consistently, you can increase your running segments and decrease your walking.
Consider Full-Body Circuit Workouts
There’s no better way to energize your muscles while ramping up your calorie burn than full-body circuit training.
These circuits are designed to target specific muscle groups in a consecutive order, while leaving only about 60-90 seconds of rest in between circuits. One tip to keep in mind is that you should focus on compound movements that simultaneously engage all of your muscle groups (deadlifts, squats, lunges, jumping jacks, burpees, etc.)

Whip Out Your Food Journal
There’s no better time to get back into food journaling than the week after Thanksgiving as reality sets in.
Writing down what you eat and drink ultimately goes a long way to help you make healthier dieting decisions on a daily basis.
Stop Forgetting To Drink Water!
It’s easy to forget about hydration, and this is especially the case during Thanksgiving and the holiday season.
Remember that your body needs at least 64 ounces of daily hydration in order to help you burn calories. Drinking water will also suppress your appetite when snack cravings creep their way into your routine.
And your body will definitely thank you when you increase your water intake!
Add More Movement Into Your Daily Routine
Try walking to your local grocery store or around your neighborhood instead of driving, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and always stretching your body out well when you wake up and before going to bed.
Even just playing with your pets or kids can help add more movement into your daily routine this winter, but the most important thing is that you recognize opportunities to get moving—and then you make the most of them!
Pre-Pack Healthy Snacks & Lunch At Night
Another helpful nutrition tip is to make lunch prep a part of your nightly routine before you go to bed.
Not only will this make your mornings a lot easier, but it’ll also go a long way to help you stay prepared and less tempted to consider drive thru and vending machine food!
Hold Yourself Accountable
Maintaining fitness and nutrition accountability can be tough throughout every time of the year, and this is particularly the case during the holidays.
